Happy New Years! It is hard to believe that 2016 is over. Time flies when you are having fun. Thank God for the past year, learn from your mistakes, grow from your tragedies, celebrate your successes, and seek God more intently in the new year of 2017.

I am not one for making "New Year Resolutions." It has been estimated that only about 8% of those who make new year resolutions actually keep them. So what is it that gets us so excited and focused to make the resolutions but lose that excitement and focus for actually keeping them? I don't think there is a universal answer to that question. It is different and unique for each individual. Each individual has to decide that for themselves.

There is one resolution that I want to encourage everyone to make though. "Grow in your relationship with God, His Son and the Holy Spirit." This is one resolution that will affect every other part of your life in a positive way. It will change your perspective on everything else you do. It will change your thinking. It will change your behavior. It will change your relationships. In short, it will change your life.

One of my favorite sections of scripture will help to daily remind us of this resolution. Romans 12:1-2 -- "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Tell everyone you know, everything you know about Jesus in the new year.
